ABOUT
I’m an artist based in Fürth, Germany, and my work moves within the space between realism and expression. With a background in graphic design, I only truly found my way to painting at the start of the pandemic. The lockdown period and reduced working hours gave me the opportunity to explore artistic expression in depth. This exploration quickly escalated from purely digital works to acrylic and eventually to oil painting.
I’m also active outside the studio – working in urban art through paste-ups, stickers and graffiti.

ARTIST STATEMENT
I am drawn to the nuanced balance between realism and expressive art. While pure hyperrealism and simplistic naive expressions don’t captivate me, I find my inspiration in the dynamic interplay between the two extremes. My work strives to create images that mimic the appearance of photographs from a distance, yet reveal their painterly essence up close, with distinct expressive marks.
My primary focus is on portraying people, drawn to the challenge of achieving realistic depictions. The human figure, particularly facial expressions, offers a rich canvas for exploration.
My creative process begins with a carefully chosen or self-created reference image. Through an initial underpainting, I introduce expressive marks that contribute to the final piece. After employing large, simplified shadow shapes, I block in key areas to establish basic values, giving the image an initial three-dimensional quality. As I progress, I intentionally blur edges, embracing elements of chance by selectively disrupting parts of the image. These perceived errors may either be corrected or embraced as lucky accidents. The iterative cycle of blurring, correcting, and resetting edges continues as the image evolves into its finished form.
This is my approach to the contemporary genre of abstracted realism.
