This series about garden birds is the result of an unexpected discovery that began during the restrictions of the Corona pandemic. I accidentally stumbled upon the world of bird watching out of sheer boredom. What started as a simple distraction quickly developed into a fascinating discovery of the diverse birdlife that hides right on your doorstep. Many of the birds are actually widespread, but had gone unnoticed by me until this point. Therefore, this small series celebrates not only the beauty of the birds themselves, but also the transformative power of mindfulness and perception.
Each image in the series is a portrait of a native garden bird. The paintings in this series focus on depicting the birds in a relatively realistic manner, but adding expressive elements to enhance the emotional resonance.
Through the simple yet powerful depiction of birds, the series invites viewers to see the world around them with new eyes. It reminds us that even in the most difficult times, the beauty and fascination of nature is just a glance away. The piece showcases my signature style of blending realism with abstractions.
